Britney Spears: what to remember from your hearing

LIGHTING – The popstar denounced an “abusive” supervision and confided to be “traumatized” and “depressed”.

The pop star Britney Spears broached for the first time Wednesday, June 23 the sensitive subject of his guardianship in public. She was heard in a Los Angeles court , via the internet, to request the lifting of the measure, which has lasted since 2008, and stipulates that the decisions concerning the singer are made by a professional tutor and her father, Jamie Spears, with whom she has had a difficult relationship for a long time.

For a little over 20 minutes, Britney Spears defended her case almost without interruption, with a rapid flow of words. Her court-appointed lawyer, Samuel Ingham, had already said in court that the singer was “afraid of her father”. But the 39-year-old singer made even stronger remarks, which revived among her fans the mobilization to free her from her tutelage, under the hashtag #FreeBritney .

The full transcript of Britney Spears’ intervention is available, in English, on the Variety website  .

A facade of happiness?

Britney Spears has hardly appeared in the media since the release and promotion of her  last album Glory  in 2016. In January 2019, she announced that she was suspending her artistic activities until further notice . She nevertheless continued to communicate on social networks, in particular on Instagram, in often joyful publications and with enigmatic captions. It was while analyzing this subtext in a podcast, Britney’s Gram, that fans suggested that she might be in trouble with her father’s tutelage.
