Amber Heard’s request for a new trial against Johnny Depp in their defamation case has been rejected by a court in the United States.

In Azcarate’s view, the juror “met the legislative requirements for duty,” and there is no evidence of fraud or wrongdoing.

Juror A had been questioned and deliberations were underway when the judge made the statement.

Depp and Heard were both found guilty of defamation in June by a jury after a six-week trial that focused on fiercely debated allegations of domestic abuse. The jury, however, found more firmly in favour of Depp, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor.

There were a lot of intimate details exposed in the live broadcast of the trial, which was seen by millions.

As a result of the jury’s decision, Johnny Depp was awarded $10 million in damages for a newspaper article written by Heard in 2018 regarding her “sexual violence” incident.

An opinion piece written by Heard for the Washington Post in which she did not name him but defined herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse” prompted the 59-year-old actor to initiate a lawsuit.

An award of $2 million was made to Heard, who had countersued and is now 36 years old.
