Khloe Kardashian has admitted that she turned down Tristan Thompson’s marriage proposal because she did not believe she could be “proud” of being engaged to him.
During the most recent episode of The Kardashians, the reality TV star discussed the engagement proposal with her older sister, Kim, and opened up about the experience.
It was rumoured that Thompson would propose to Kardashian in December of 2020. The exes, who have a history of a rocky on-and-off relationship, had recently gotten back together at the period in question.
Khloe Kardashian remarked to her sister Kim Kardashian, “What I meant is that I need to make sure this is a completely different relationship, because I want to be proud to say I’m engaged to anyone.” Khloe was referring to her recent engagement to rapper Tristan Thompson.
“And that’s why I said, ‘you know, I’m not comfortable taking this right now, because I’m not happy to tell my family,'” she explained.
Kardashian stated that she was aware that Thompson was most likely “hurt” by the rejection, but that she wasn’t ready to “accept something and give someone false hope.”
The founder of Good American made the decision to keep the proposal a secret from her family, and it wasn’t until Thompson told Kim himself that they found out about it.
The basketball star had consulted Kim in the past for her opinion, and he intended to pop the question on Valentine’s Day in the year 2021.
Kim shared with her sister what she said she did: “I questioned him a few months later, the night after I thought it happened.” And he responds by saying, “Oh, I did it a few months ago. She didn’t tell you guys, did she?'” she asked.
Although Kardashian and Thompson started dating for the first time in 2016, their relationship has been strained due to Thompson’s previous extramarital affairs. They are already parents to a girl, True, who is four years old, and in August they became parents to a son who was born through surrogacy.
Kardashian found out in December 2021 that Thompson had fathered a kid with personal trainer Maralee Nichols after spending the night with her in March of that year. Kardashian found out this information in December 2021. At the time, he was involved in a romantic connection with Kardashian.
The couple had just recently finished the embryo transfer process for their second child when the news broke.
