Jha has previously claimed that the Omicron BA.5 strain of the virus was the deadliest and most difficult to treat due to its ability to evade the immune system.
It is unclear how long people are protected after recovering from a BA.5 infection, as was indicated by Jha back in July. The CDC used to think that an infection would protect a person for about 90 days, but Jha pointed out that it’s becoming increasingly common for people to get reinfected well before then.
Among the clinical trial of omicron BA.1 injections conducted by Moderna, the strongest immunological response was seen in people who had previously been unwell and had received the booster dose. This suggests that people who have been previously infected and receive an omicron booster may have greater protection against the Covid virus, as presented at a CDC committee hearing on the vaccinations the week before last.
Three doses of the original vaccines provided over 70% protection against infection with the omicron BA.1 and BA.2 strains of the virus, according to research conducted by Weill Cornell Medicine in Qatar and published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
