Notre-Dame de Paris on Broadway: 24 years after its creation, the musical is performed in New York

Notre Dame de Paris premiered on Broadway for the first time in 24 years, making its Broadway debut.

Because of the movie’s French subtitles, New Yorkers are able to follow Esmeralda’s exploits in France.

Before it opened in New York, the show had been performed in 23 different countries and nine different languages.

“Of course, this is a completely new experience for me.” According to Notre-Dame de Paris composer Richard Cocciante, “It’s a humble attempt at returning to this country that’s hard to do, especially in this neighbourhood of Broadway.”

The show has been a big success all over the world, with an estimated 8 to 9 million people seeing performances of Notre Dame de Paris.

An appreciative audience member grinned and stated, “I already knew all of the songs and words.” Having them in New York is a dream come true, and we couldn’t be happier to have them here.

In the words of one delighted New Yorker who was about to leave the room: “It was much better than my expectations.” They are simply superb in their roles. In my mind’s eye, they look and sound exactly like the characters in my narrative. “The performance left me dumbfounded,” one audience member wrote.

This week, the Broadway show’s opening night was held at Lincoln Center.

The movie was better than I expected, and I want to watch it again, and maybe even a third time,” remarked one delighted New Yorker as she exited the theatre.

Each and every one of the actors in this film is exceptional. It’s exactly how I envisaged the story coming to life that these actors do. I was awestruck by the performance, to say the least.

It’s been 25 years since this French musical debuted in France and 20 years since it’s been touring the world, but it’s now making its way to New York City.

It’s not uncommon for folks to be able to recite a song by heart after hearing it several times. Notre Dame de Paris is normally performed in French with English subtitles for New York City audiences. However.

An adaptation of Victor Hugo’s novel of the same name by Luc Plamondon and Richard Cocciante, which premiered in 1998, was a huge success when it was originally made available. People like Hélène Ségara, Tina Arena, Patrick Fiori, and even Garou benefited from it in their careers. During the past 20 years, the tour has travelled to 23 countries and sold over 15 million tickets.

And it looks that New Yorkers have been swayed by the message. “I had already seen it before, and I recognised all the songs and lyrics without having to look at the subtitles.” According to him, the musical comedy had finally arrived and he and his wife were both pleased. One of them has walked out of the room. According to another reviewer, “The actors were simply outstanding, and they brought the plot to life just way I had hoped they would.” In November 2023, the trip will come full circle and end at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, France, where it began. More than two decades ago, this was the beginning of it all.
